URL: provide information only once

Presentation

This tool helps solve the following problem: how to provide information to one person while ensuring that it is not given to others. Indeed, it is possible that these messages may be read by others (machines or humans).

The operation consists of redirecting a so-called "intermediate" URL to another so-called "final" URL, only once. This way, one is assured that the final URL is known only to one person. Additionally, the various accesses to the intermediate URL are logged, allowing for the collection of potential information on the espionage encountered.

Advanced use example

Here we present an advanced procedure, which is rarely necessary but can offer ideas.

We are trying to converse privately with a person who has not published a public key, ensuring that it is indeed them. Let’s assume the person is not very experienced or motivated initially. Furthermore, we are trying to limit the information given on standard communication channels. Here are the different steps:

  1. - Create a discussion on Comind, with the "URL" option.
  2. - Use a temporary link shortening service to mask the comind.earth domain
  3. - Send the shortened link, providing as little information as possible, but enough for the person to use it.
  4. - Discuss with them to present ideas and the procedure to ensure it is indeed them.
  5. - Create another discussion on Comind, by breaking down the final part of the URL into pieces.
  6. - Send the different numbered pieces through different channels (paper mail, SMS, social network, etc.)
  7. - Additionally, ask the person to do things to ensure it is indeed them (for example, using a certain misspelled word on a social network).
  8. - Finally, we have almost assurance that we are discussing with the right person and in private on the second talk created.
