How to sign on Windows

Installing Gpg4win/Kleopatra

Gpg4win = Kleopatra (it changes names)
  1. Download it
  2. Complete the installation using the default options

Configuring Kleopatra

  1. Launch Kleopatra
  2. Click on "New Key Pair" (a large button in the middle)
  3. Choose the following options:
  4. Click "OK" to generate
  5. Go to Settings > Configure Kleopatra > Crypto Operations
  6. Select "Create signed or encrypted files as text files."
  7. Save the configuration: "Ok.".

Producing a signature

  1. Using Windows Explorer, right-click on the file to open the context menu.
  2. Click on "Sign and encrypt."
  3. Deselect both "Encrypt" options to keep only "Sign asc."
  4. Start the process.
  5. You will now have a file with the same name in Windows Explorer but of type "OpenPGP Text File." Right-click on it to open it with Notepad or another simple text editor.
  6. Copy all the content (Ctrl-a Ctrl-c)
