The Segmentation: Understanding / Organization / Action

Context

The segmentation into understanding/organization/action seems simple, but there can be confusion about what constitutes action and what should be included in the action section. For example, if the project determines that theoretical questions need to be resolved, does the research on these questions fall under action ? Or, if the execution of an action requires organizational and theoretical reflection activities as sub-tasks, where should the information be placed ?

Question

How can we more precisely define the understanding/organization/action sections ?

Study

General Rule

A good classification is to organize by meaning rather than by type. For example, if you were to organize objects on your computer by type (photos, texts, videos, PDFs, etc.), then for a travel project containing these various elements, the files would be scattered all over. It would be much less practical than creating a folder for this trip and putting the various documents in it.

What is an action

Let’s take a simple and universal definition: an action is what changes things. If we stick to this definition, conducting theoretical research is an action, so if we need to answer a theoretical question, we must list this need among the actions to be carried out.

Practical Case Study

A Large Software Development Project

Let’s imagine a complex action like developing a large piece of software. This action requires organization and also studies (thus an understanding component). Everything should fall under this action (classification by meaning).

But if this project, for example, requires graphic design work, it would be good to be able to call for action on the "action" page. Therefore, it would be necessary to add a database of requested actions to Comind, which would be different from the action section that groups the main actions.

If the project solves a question that could be useful for other projects, this work should then be copied/moved or adapted in the understanding section (and the same for the organization).

Response

"Not The End" is in itself an action; it includes sub-actions, organization, and understanding. Each sub-action may include internal sub-actions, organization, and understanding. Parts of the organization or understanding of a sub-action can be incorporated into the overall project when they go beyond the scope of the action and concern the entire project.

It will be necessary to better organize the action section to make it a sort of search site for announcements, as there are various criteria attached to each action (such as importance, type, urgency, parent action).
