Increase the power of the current of the common good in society
Context
We saw in "How to associate motivations with different collective needs" that the improvement of people's orientation towards the common good in the long term essentially comes from the victory of the collective common good current over the local good current. Therefore, it remains to identify the determining factors of this victory.
Question
What are the determining factors for the victory of the collective common good current in the long term over the local good current ?
Study
What constitutes a person's environment:
- The deep structure of society
- This deep structure does not seem to influence daily life, but it is the framework that guides the entire society. This deep structure is made up of the decision-making system that guides society (financial power, government, religion, etc.).
- Economic and cultural activities
- Their functioning determines the majority of the atmosphere in which a person will live their day. For example, if they work in a company where management operates through stress, then that will condition their life atmosphere and thoughts. The cultural aspect is also important because free time is partly spent improving one's representations through cultural exchange, which may include information, fiction, etc.
Response
To increase the current of the common good in society, the most important elements are:
- Improve the decision-making system
- The foundation is to establish justice in the decision-making system so that motivations align with its improvement. The most important are the motivations to improve it: reward the people responsible for its improvement and punish those responsible for its corruption.
- Improve economic activities
- This can be done by:
- Creating new economic activities based on decentralized decision-making centered on the collective common good.
- Facilitating the transition of companies to a decentralized decision-making system centered on the collective common good. Possibly relying on the already existing movement known as liberated companies.
- Increase its cultural diffusion
- For example, by creating new communication channels based on decentralization and the collective common good.
